Next year, hauliers in Europe will be able to order all-electric versions of Volvo's heavy-duty trucks for the most common transport operations. This means that Volvo Trucks will offer a complete heavy-duty range with electric drivelines starting in Europe in 2021. Volvo Trucks' massive drive towards electrification marks a major step forwards on the road to fossil-free transport.

This October, Volvo Trucks will start live tests of a fully electric transport solution for the construction industry. Two heavy duty trucks will be delivered to customer Swerock in order to meet the growing demands for less noise and emissions – especially in sensitive urban areas.

Volvo Trucks has recently started sales of its toughest ever construction truck – the new Volvo FMX. This is the third version of the Volvo FMX and it features an entirely new cab, higher payloads and innovative safety features. With increased front axle loads of up to 20 tonnes and a 38-tonne bogie, it is built for the most demanding assignments even on very rough terrain. The new Volvo FMX is designed for future electric drivelines and certified for the use of HVO, a fossil-free alternative to diesel.

Hauliers and transport buyers are increasingly interested in reducing their CO2 emissions and costs through the use of refrigerated liquefied gas as a fuel. For this reason, the new Volvo FH and Volvo FM trucks will have engines that run on liquefied natural gas and biogas, which offer the same high performance as diesel engines. Using biogas makes it possible to achieve carbon-neutral transport and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100%.

The new heavy Volvo Trucks, now being released for sale in <add country>, have been developed to maximise drivers’ opportunities to do their job effectively, safely and responsibly. All models – the Volvo FH, Volvo FH16, Volvo FM and Volvo FMX – have a new, flexible user interface with a digital instrument panel that gives the driver relevant information in each situation. In addition, the Volvo FM and FMX have new cabs that give the driver more space and improved direct visibility.

The Volvo FH with I-Save is now being launched in an even more fuel-efficient version that can cut fuel costs by up to ten percent. This marks a significant improvement of three percentage points on the previous generation.
